Rainforest Vegetation of the Illawarra

Landcare Illawarra is a community-based organisation which helps the Illawarra community living in the 3 local council areas of Wollongong, Shellharbour and Kiama on the NSW South Coast to get involved in a broad range of environmental repair activities.

In co-operation with Our Partners, we provide:

  • A range of information services such as our email service to keep you up-to-date
  • Putting you in contact with other rural and urban Landcarers in your area
  • Training workshops on property planning and management, bush regeneration, as well as plant and weed id
  • Advice and assistance with funding opportunities and establishment of Landcare groups
  • Opportunities to participate in activities from on-ground to administration and management

There are over 20 active Landcare groups working on natural area restoration projects in the Illawarra region. Activities include:

  • Riparian restoration
  • Biodiversity enhancement through revegetation activities

  • Erosion control
  • Fencing and stock exclusion
  • Weed removal
  • Seed collection
