About Shoalhaven Landcare

Shoalhaven Landcare  represents all local Landcare groups within the Shoalhaven.
It consists of representatives from Landcare groups,  Shoalhaven City Council and the
South East Local Land Services.

The objectives of Shoalhaven Landcare are:
To assist in the establishment, growth and maintenance of Landcare Groups within the Shoalhaven
To encourage and promote Landcare through awareness-raising activities, training and education
To advocate ecological and agricultural sustainability and to enhance and incorporate indigenous knowledge in natural resource and environmental management

How can Shoalhaven Landcare help you?

Shoalhaven Landcare’s  many dedicated volunteers have spent countless hours protecting our local environment.  They have a wealth of knowledge about all things environmental.  They can help you with details about:
Plants: including best selections, seed sourcing and propagation, planting methods, providence and genetic integrity
Bush regeneration: including weed removal, revegetation techniques and rehabilitation
Local environmental issues
Sourcing funding for your environmental project
Other people and agency staff who can help you with specific needs
Issues surrounding group formation, insurance and OHS.

Would you like to form a new Landcare Group?

If there is no Landcare group nearby or if you have specific issues that require the formation of a new group, here are a few simple steps you will need to consider:

  • Talk to your neighbours, friends or surrounding property owners about your ideas
  • Work through Shoalhaven Landcare for support and advice
  • Contact other Landcare groups to get some advice on how they got started
  • Hold a public meeting to let others in the community know of your plans
  • In conjunction with Shoalhaven Landcare draw up a plan of action to guide your group into the future
